Why You Should Shop Local
This Holiday Season
This holiday season, the Scarsdale Business Alliance (SBA) encourages the Scarsdale community to shop locally to strengthen the Village’s economy and enhance local quality of life. The SBA aims to show residents how supporting local businesses benefits everyone.
“Shopping locally creates a virtuous cycle: for every $100 spent at local businesses, approximately $68 stays within the community, fostering local jobs and economic growth." ...
Want to DO SOME GOOD in Westchester this Holiday season? Here's how!
The holiday season is back!
Cooking the feast. Decorating the house. Buying the gifts. Wrapping the presents. Yup, all of it.
As the founder of Do Some Good, a communications firm focused on philanthropic partnerships and a Westchester mom of two, I know this time of year is jam packed. I also know that our generous Westchester community wants to add giving back to that very long to-do list.
To make things easy, I’m sharing a few charities that you and your family can help out during the holidays.

Mayor’s Challenge: Bring Joy This Holiday Season
This year, Mayor Arest has issued a special challenge: “Fill a Van for Toys for Tots.” Help make the holidays brighter for children in need by bringing an unwrapped toy to the event. Donations will be collected in the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots van, prominently parked at Boniface Circle. Your contribution can make this holiday season extra special for a child in need.
A special thanks to the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department, Department of Public Works, Scarsdale Police and Fire Departments, Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Weinberg Nature Center, the Scarsdale Library, the Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Services and the Scarsdale Business Alliance, for making this wonderful event come together.
Embracing the Spirit of Giving: Supporting Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service This Holiday Season
Written by Daniela Fogliano, Scarsdale Youth Business Alliance Member and senior at the School of the Holy Child.
With the holiday season nearing, it is the perfect time to honor the holiday spirit by giving back to the community. Whether that is through donating your time or your resources, there are ample opportunities to make a positive impact and give back to those who work actively to serve us. Being an intern of the Scarsdale Business Alliance, I have been able to see organizations of the Scarsdale community that work fervently throughout the year to help the community and make meaningful changes.
Specifically, I have gained firsthand insight into how the Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service, a non-profit, strives to make a difference through its unique programs.
Scarsdale Youth Business Alliance
Hosts Successful Food Drive for
Feeding Westchester
On Sunday, October 27th, the Scarsdale Youth Business Alliance (SYBA) collaborated with Feeding Westchester to host its inaugural food drive at the Scarsdale Farmers Market. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., high school students from the Scarsdale and Edgemont communities gathered to make a difference for students and families in need across Westchester County.
With a spirit of service and compassion, students and Feeding Westchester employees canvassed the area, encouraging community members to contribute both monetary and food donations. Their efforts were met with incredible support from the community, resulting in a substantial impact.
According to Feeding Westchester, the event raised approximately $9,000 in just a few hours, along with numerous food donations, all of which will go toward supporting families who are facing food insecurity.
