The holiday season is back!
Cooking the feast. Decorating the house. Buying the gifts. Wrapping the presents. Yup, all of it.
As the founder of Do Some Good, a communications firm focused on philanthropic partnerships and a Westchester mom of two, I know this time of year is jam packed. I also know that our generous Westchester community wants to add giving back to that very long to-do list.
To make things easy, I’m sharing a few charities that you and your family can help out during the holidays.
Serve a Meal – Hope Community Services
Located in New Rochelle, Hope Community Services provides emergency food services, assistance in applying for in emergency housing programs, afterschool and summer enrichment programs and assistance with applying for various social services in Westchester.
Volunteer Opportunities: Serve a meal, cook a meal or organize a food drive. All ages can donate food items. In-person volunteering starts at ages 12-13 with an adult present.

Donate a New Winter Coat – The Sharing Shelf
Located in Port Chester, the Sharing Shelf is a clothing bank for kids and teens. The organization addresses clothing insecurity and meets the basic material needs of children in Westchester, bringing dignity and respect so they can thrive.
Volunteer Opportunities: Get matched with a child in need through their Share Holiday Joy campaign to donate new warm clothing items, sort donated clothing or organize a winter clothing drive. Teens ages 14 – 17 can volunteer in-person with an adult at the Clothing Bank. Click for more information on ways to get involved.

Remember, these charities need individual, corporate and group volunteers all year long so if you can’t make it happen before 2025, there is always next year!
Happy Holidays!
