How White Plains Hospital is Advancing Care Through Expansion

Increasingly, more patients in Westchester are choosing White Plains Hospital for care than any other hospital in the county. Meeting that growing demand represents both a challenge and an opportunity—one that the Hospital will meet through an ambitious new construction plan that is already underway.

Transformation has been a consistent thread throughout the Hospital’s 131-year history, from a four-room house in 1893 to today’s hub of advanced care for the county and the Hudson Valley. To continue to meet the growing needs of our community, White Plains Hospital is expanding its facilities with a new 10-story, 475,000-square-foot addition that will connect to the hospital on the first three floors, and will have patient rooms on the floors above.

Set to open in early 2028, the new expansion will include…

A Troubling Trend: Stroke Risk in Young Populations

After shoveling and carrying heavy groceries, a young woman begins to feel dizzy and unsteady. Noticing one eyelid drooping, she heads to the emergency room. Although her CAT scan appears normal, further tests reveal high blood pressure and a blood-vessel blockage caused by a dissected carotid artery. At just 30 years old, she has suffered a stroke.
