Local Canvas is a curated online gallery that highlights and sells original artwork from emerging local artists making unique, affordable art accessible to the local community. We only sell original art, no prints or photography. We work closely with our artists to curate the selection and create opportunities for them to showcase their art and share their unique perspectives. Our goal is to create a world where every home is adorned with original works that tell a unique story. We aim to provide a path for emerging artists to be able to showcase their work to art enthusiasts. We strive to be the trusted hub where local talent thrives, supported by the community that values their craft. Local Canvas is more than a gallery; it’s a space where individuals can discover the one-of-a-kind piece that transforms their house into a home. We are passionate about discovering new talent and supporting the careers of our artists.

Local Canvas is curated by Emily Mervis, after 15+ years in the fashion world—working at places like Bloomingdale’s, J.Crew and Gucci—she picked up painting as a new relaxing hobby. What started as a fun hobby turned into a full-blown obsession when she realized just how many talented artists are hiding in plain sight. So, she founded Local Canvas to give them the spotlight they deserve—with a background in business, she is passionate about using it as a tool to help these artists share their work with a broader audience.
