The Scarsdale Adult School is honored to announce that it has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Spotlight Award, presented by the Scarsdale Bowl Committee in recognition of the school’s exceptional dedication to lifelong learning and its transformative impact on the community.
This distinguished honor, now in its third year, celebrates organizations or individuals who have made a meaningful and focused contribution to the Scarsdale community. This year’s recipient, the Scarsdale Adult School (SAS), exemplifies these ideals through its outstanding educational offerings, innovative programming, and unwavering commitment to intellectual enrichment.
“For generations, SAS has served as a pillar of inspiration, fostering curiosity, connection, and personal growth,” said Bowl Committee Co-chair Cynthia Samwick. “We are delighted to recognize their extraordinary service and to shine a well-deserved spotlight on their work.”
Founded in 1938, the Scarsdale Adult School is a nonprofit institution chartered by the New York State Board of Regents. What began as an evening program with just ten courses has grown into a dynamic educational hub, offering thousands of enriching experiences each year to students from Scarsdale and beyond. Whether in literature, history, wellness, or the arts, SAS continues to make high-quality education accessible to all.
Director Jill Serling expressed heartfelt gratitude upon learning of the award. “It is an incredible honor to be recognized with the Spotlight Award,” she said. “This achievement belongs to the entire SAS family—our devoted staff, board, advisory committee, talented instructors, and, of course, our remarkable students. Together, we celebrate a shared passion for lifelong learning.”
The Spotlight Award is not only a tribute to SAS’s enduring legacy but also a celebration of Scarsdale’s commitment to education, innovation, and community spirit.
