Down to Earth Scarsdale Farmers Market is delighted to return to the heart of Scarsdale Village starting Sunday, May 4th!
Reopening promptly at 9am rain or shine at the intersection of Spencer Place and Chase Road, the farmers market offers direct access to the freshest, locally grown food produced by regional farmers and food makers. Free parking is available on-street and in the parking garage on Christie Place and riders enjoying Bicycle Sundays on the Bronx River Parkway are welcome. Live entertainment by local musicians and information tables by community organizations are facilitated by Scarsdale Business Alliance as part of their Destination Scarsdale program.
Among the displays of briny pickles, colorful produce and artisanal loaves, shoppers will discover specialty items such as Great Joy Family Farm’s Hudson Valley-grown rice, quail eggs, tofu and in shell peanuts. Look for returning vendor SOVA Farm’s certified organic poultry, meat, eggs and honey, mushrooms and foraged treasures from Tivoli Mushrooms, Blissful Table’s handcrafted granola, Vermont cheese and maple syrup from Maplebrook Farm, pre-seasoned lentil mixes and ready-to-enjoy snacks by The Lentil Co. and so much more.
In addition to the array of regionally grown and sourced foods, Down to Earth Markets offers a holistic, one stop shopping experience with locally based producers selling small-batch, single origin coffee, chocolate and olive oil. This allows shoppers to purchase their full list of weekly groceries at the farmers market, outside in the sunshine and fresh air while mingling with friends and neighbors.
Doing some spring cleaning and decluttering your closets? Non-profit Green Tree Textiles, a Hunt’s Point based recycler of unwanted textiles, returns with a green collection bin in the farmers market every Sunday. Green Tree Textiles is committed to making sure the textile donations they receive are diverted from the waste stream to be resold, reused or repurposed as textile insulation in walls and soundproofing. They accept clothes, shoes, bags and household linens in any condition (no rugs or pillows).
Down to Earth Markets is a local farmers market operator that manages markets in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Westchester. Come visit to reconnect with your favorite vendors and see what’s new.”
SNAP EBT is welcome at the Scarsdale Farmers Market and they accept and distribute matching FreshConnect Checks (get $2 in FreshConnect Checks for every $2 issued in SNAP tokens, capped at 25 checks per day) to make shoppers’ SNAP budgets go further. Stop at the market manager’s tent to learn more. WIC and Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks can be used at the farm stands June through November.
